Sten Nadolny, a German novelist, was born in 1942 in Zehdenick, Germany. His parents, Burkhard and Isabella Nadolny, were also both writers. The author of several well-respected novels, he is best known outside of Germany for his second effort, The Discovery of Slowness (1987; originally published in 1983 as Die Entdeckung der Langsamkeit), a fictionalized meditation on the life and lessons of British Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin. Prior to his career as a novelist, Nadolny was a filmmaker and historian. He lives in Berlin. (via Wikipedia)
